I’ve been offering pet portraits to my friends as trades (such as; a car to SF, thanks Emily!) but have found that they are kind of high in demand. People seem to love portraits of their little kitties or pups, and I am happy to draw them up something. These cat brothers were done in Prismacolor markers, and will be mounted on black mounting board, $50 each. This puffy shaved cat, Paris, took a lot more time and precision in pencils, and it will also be soon mounted, for $75.

Also, a few months ago I did the seven of diamonds for Art in Hand – The Portland Project. Each card in the deck of playing cards was designed by a different Portland area artist, and the artwork is currently being auctioned off for charity.

I got a pretty nice job, something to hold me over until I get hired on at a game company, I hope! I feel like since I’m no longer located in the midwest I’ll have a better chance at being hired over here on the west coast. That great of a move with little to no promise of things working out will hopefully show that I am dedicated to my game industry dream, and am willing to do what it takes to obtain my goals. I eventually would like to migrate to the San Francisco area, even though I’m falling in love with Portland a little more every day. It will be hard to leave when the time comes, but I’m set on chasing my dream career, and someday it will be worth it.

The new site design is finished, completed by Mark Carter, and it looks great. He set up my editing controls a lot differently, so now everything is super user friendly, which is awesome for me!

I’ve been doing a lot of work for the project I mentioned before, Londontown, and I hope that  maybe I can include some of the final pieces into my portfolio. I hope to do a couple of character models, complete with normal maps, in addition to the concept art I’ve already created for them. I’m learning a lot about teamwork while on this project; I’ve had to rework a couple of my images a number of times, in order to please everyone, but I think the finished product really shows my hard work.

I’ve also been doing some casual little paintings on the side, just to loosen up my painting hand, haha. I did a small caricature of myself for an art site I’m a member of, and completed all of my commissions! I’m going to hold off doing anymore commissions for a while, I really want to focus on the Londontown project and do some other things on the side as well..

Things are really looking up.

I’ve been so productive lately! I have a couple interviews at places like Best Buy and Red Robin, so soon I will be working a lot, and my productivity will sadly go back down as my free time shrinks.
I have joined a game project called LondonTown, and hope to give them some good models very soon. I have sketched out a turn around of an elderly woman that I will soon model.
This will be my first time working with normal maps, and I am excited to learn!

Long time no update! The move went okay, I’m now located in Portland, Oregon! It is beautiful here, and I’ve painted a new banner for my website to celebrate! I’ve been doing a lot of commissions on the side, so I’ve been keeping busy in addition to relocating to a completely different part of the country. I’m hoping to start another character model soon to prove how awesome of a texture artist I can be, but my first priority is to find a job, any job! Oh! and the site design may be completely changed, soon! There is much to look forward to.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I’ve recently decided to move from Indiana to Oregon in two months, so there’s a lot of planning and worrying that I’ve been busying myself with. Today is my birthday! I painted myself a new wallpaper, and uploaded it onto the site.

The steampunk keygun is finished and uploaded into the 3d section of my gallery.

A friend of mine asked me to draw something with tentacles, and gave me a piece of wood with a sheet of black construction paper glued to one side. I used oil pastels and was finished within an hour, and had a lot of fun! Octobubbles is uploaded into the 2d gallery section.

Painted this in one hour, on one layer, with one brush setting in Adobe Photoshop.
I used a photo for reference, so I will not be posting this in my gallery.

Also, my gun is finished, and is in my gallery.

Life has been real busy, but I’ve kept up on everything, so far! The Ben and Penny painting isn’t yet finished, I started on this and am completely consumed. This keygun is a steampunk themed weapon I’m working on. It’s a concept I sketched out very quickly, built, and right now I’m working on laying out the UVW map for textures.

Busy! The gun is coming along, I think I have one more night of working on it and then I can post it as completed. The Ben and Penny painting is finished and in the gallery section.

This week I’m working on painting a sketch I drew two or three years ago. The biggest difficulty I’ve had with this piece so far has been that the anatomy on the sketch is far worse than what it would look like if I sketched it out today, due to my skill improving. A good portion of the time I’ve spent on this has been rotating, moving, completely replacing limbs, instead of just painting it out. I’ve learned my lesson: only work on recent sketches!
